Taijutsu being one of his specialties, Chi was able to react quickly, planting his hands on the ground and lowering his head out of the way of the kick. He felt the air rush over his hair, a sign of how close and how quick the kick had been. In the same movement, he pushed up on his hands into a handstand, shooting a kick upward at his now-opponent.

Kogashu saw him dodge the technique and was surprised. So much for being a failure of a ninja. He couldn't change his location now that he was midair, so when he saw the vertical kick he crossed his arms, taking the kick in the arms, wincing in the slight pain. It propelled him some ten feet up, where he made hand seals and said "Daitoppa - Great Breakthrough!" A humongous burst of wind shot from his mouth, so strong it lifted him into the air.

From his handstand, he proceeded to do a string of handsprings, flipping end over end out of the way of the attack. Chi grinned up at the assailant, jeering. "Huff all you want. You're just full of hot air."

Kogashu listened to the ninja talk and laughed. 'He doesn't know about the Sanbi of course, he's in for a surprise if he's better than me.' He jumped onto the pond and formed more hand seals. "Daibakufu no Jutsu - Grand Waterfall Technique!" Large rings of water spun around Kogashu before shooting off at the monkey hermit.

The pond water swirled at him quickly, and he jumped to the side to avoid it. Unfortunately, the mass of water was just too large, and he got caught at the edge of it. The spiraling water slammed him against the ground and turned him end over end, submerged. Finally, he was bashed against a tree and set free of the technique. Coughing and sputtering, he stood, aching. "Fine... *cough* Maybe you've got some bite in there too." He chuckled. "But then again..." He performed some handseals. "Hall of Mirrors Jutsu!" he called, and a massive maze off reflective glass rose up from the ground and water beneath them, even forming a ceiling over their heads. Chi quickly leaped inside one of the mirrors, and his voice could be heard echoing throughout the maze. "You might have thought I was washed up, but take a look in the mirror!" He called, then appeared in place of Kogashu's reflection, swinging his staff down at Kogashu's head.
Chi, however, in reality was actually thrusting his staff, attempting to butt Kogashu in the gut from outside the genjutsu, hoping that he'd defend upward against the illusion and leave his torso exposed for the real strike.
((FYI, if the mirrors in the illusion are shattered, the opponent believes they are cut by the glass, and the glass will then repair itself.))

Kogashu quietly celebrated when his attack connected. He had the upper hand at last. He began to prepare for another move when the enemy used their technique. He took in a breath from the awe of the jutsu. Not knowing that it was a genjutsu, he stepped back when he saw his reflection replaced by the shinobi. 'What is this technique?!' He raised his arms to block the strike, and felt a sharp pain in the stomach. Bits of blood dotted the ground from the strike, and he could conclude on one thing. Genjutsu. He raised the release seal and said, "Kai-Release!" And the mirrors flickered, but came right back. Proved him right. Escaping genjutsu is easy due to the second chakra he possessed. Allowing for some of the Sanbi's chakra to leak out, the genjutsu was dispelled.[When someone puts their chakra in you it dispels genjutsu, works with bijuu as established by Killer Bee in the manga]
He sent the chakra back inside, and faced his opponent.

Chi bowed deeply as his jutsu was broken. "You must be really strong to overcome my genjutsu, as I'm something of an expert." He said, raising back to face the man. "But it's not all I have in my bag of tricks, not by a long shot." He bit his thumb, performing handseals, then thrusting his hand to the ground, causing a mass of smoke to rise up. "Summoning Jutsu!" he called, and where his hand had planted now stood a monkey; a gibbon with two wakizashi crossed at its back. "Hey, Gurotsuki!" Chi said, grinning. "How're the wife and kids?" Gurotsuki seemed agitated. "I'm single and don't have kids, you idiot. What did you get yourself into now?" he looked around, then up at Kogashu. "He looks powerful. You didn't peek at any of his siblings in the bath house did you?" Chi laughed. "That's what I thought, but this guy just wants to mount me on the wall or something. Came out of nowhere. Anyway, I could use a hand. Up for it?" he asked, and the gibbon drew his swords in his long, lanky arms. "Just try not to get me killed with any of your stupid stunts, alright Chi?" he asked, holding his swords out and assuming a stance. "No promises." Chi said, twirling his staff overhead.

Kogashu eyed the monkey warily. He hated fighting summons. It was unfair. Two on one and all that. But how about two on one hundred? He smiled at the thought and performed handseals. "Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu - Water Clone Technique!" A hundred water clones stepped out of the pond and stood next to him. He smiled at the summon and his summoner. Now it would be, a little more even. They stood, facing the enemies, and all charged from various directions, kunai drawn.

Chi performed his own seal, and suddenly the area was filled with 100 Chi Jins. They charged in, staves drawn to meet the oncoming enemy clones in an epic clash... and passed right through them. "Okay, so illusionary clones are much less impressive. The whole army to army thing looked pretty amazing though, you have to admit." His clones dissipated as he released the jutsu, and he charged in himself, twirling the staff with deft skill. The wooden pole pounded into the oppenent's forces, splashing them on impact. These copies seemed to be much weaker than the original, but their numbers were a bit overwhelming. Chi was beginning to accumulate a collection of small cuts from the kunai he didn't manage to avoid completely. Gurotsuki was faring better, his diminutive size and powerful springing limbs giving him the advantage over the taller, more awkward clones. He whirled like a buzzsaw, cleaving through the liquid foes in calm but seasoned fashion. Still, even he was having his troubles, having to retreat at regular intervals to avoid being overwhelmed.

Kogashu noticed them being overwhelmed, and even considered sending another wave of one hundred. No. He was already at 50% chakra after making so many clones. Once he got to zero....hats when he would unleash the Sanbi. He fought as hard as he could, and found his way to the enemy summon. Facing it, he formed handseals and said, "Daitoppa-Great Breakthrough!" A tremendous gust of wind shot from his mouth, aiming to blow the summon away. He looked throughout the battlefield. His numbers were getting thin. Almost forty left.
He then went for Chi and leaped into the air, kunai in each hand, aiming to hit him from above. Ten clones raced backwards to stand away from the battle. He had a plan for them. One of his more crude plans if he said so himself, but that move had not failed him yet.
