| Five Great Nations |
| Land of Earth (Tsuchi no Kuni) (1 sub-board)
The Earth Country go its name from the large amount of mountain ranges it possesses. It is one of the larger countries in the world, and shares a border with the Fire Country.

| Land of Fire (Hi no Kuni) (6 sub-boards)
The Fire Country is one of the larger nations in the world. It is marked by dense forests, giving its village the name "hidden in the leaves"

| Land of Lightning (Kiminari no Kuni) (1 sub-board)
The Lightning Country gets its name from the frequent lightning storms it gets. It is one of the larger countries, and borders the coast.

| Land of Water (Mizu no Kuni) (1 sub-board)
The Water Country is one of the smaller nations in the series, but is the strongest nation of its size. It is an island, so it has excellent defense.

| Land of Wind (Kaze no Kuni) (1 sub-board)
The Wind Country is mainly filled with deserts and mountain ranges. Its the largest of the countries, and therefore the hardest to maintain, and most of the country is highly uninhabited.

| Lower Nations |
| Land of Rain (Ame no Kuni) (1 sub-board)
The rain country is a lower country. It borders fire, earth and wind. Like Mizu, rumors state the Akatsuki was founded here as well.

| Land of Waterfalls (Taki no Kuni) (2 sub-boards)
The Waterfall Country is a small nation that borders the Fire Country and the Earth Country.

| Land of Grass (Kusa no Kuni) (1 sub-board)
The grass country is a lower nation, bordered by Fire and Earth. The country has a varied landscape complete with climate zones of every type except tropical and tundra.

The sound country very recently sprung up a village. It was allied with leaf before it attacked Konoha.
