Welcome to the future, where war is always near
Fifty years have past since the Third Great between the Akatsuki and the Five Great Ninja Villages. Fifty years since the massive battle where the last of the Akatsuki were killed. Naruto Uzumaki gave his life to Sasuke Uchiha, who helped defeat the group. In his last breaths he was able to seal the demon fox that resided in himself into Sasuke, so that Konoha would still have their Bijuu. Sasuke returned to Konoha and became Hokage after the Fifth died, ruling for many years.
The five villages were finally in a stable peace, until, from the shadows, a new Great Village was born, shifting the power from just five major villages to six. It was the Sound Village, coming from the ruin that was caused by Orochimaru's death. Since all of the inhabitance were at once time experiments, they had abilities never thought of by anyone, so the amount of clients they began getting grew at an astounding rate. They began harboring a dark organization, one who claimed to be the rebirth of goodness in this world, as a new shinobi took up the mantle of the Akatsuki leader. This crime organization is often referred to as the Secondary Akatsuki. It last about twenty years, replacing members whenever they were lost. Taakuin Suuta lead his ten S-ranked Ninja and the Sound Village, and together they took on the armies of the Five Major villages at the Valley at the end, between Konoha and Oto. The battle raged for days, and in the end Sound was forced to flee and left the remaining Akatsuki behind.
Over the next couple of years while re-cooperating from the war peace abounded, and even the Sound Village wasn't able to cause any trouble. That was until the Mist Village united with them, under their new ruler, Minoru Naoki, who decided he could do a better job and slaughtered his father. Minoru has lead an attack with his Mist compatriot against Konoha, in order to attempt and retrieve Taakuin, who had escaped and aided Konoha against a small raid a few years before. He hasn't been heard from since. But the attack went unsuccessfully due to the fact that Minoru chose to attack during the grand Unity Festival, where All of the Kages where there, and able to help defend Konoha.
Through all of this a new Akatsuki has chosen now to rise again, lead by a mysterious man. They are just forming right now, trying to get to a full strength, searching out followers, but it is slow going, and with an even more mysterious ninja blocking their every move, it is slow going.
Mist has been alienated from the rest for its involvement in the attack on Konoha and tensions run high as everyone remembers, The other shinobi villages cannot be trusted. Peace is on a fine line, which could shatter at anytime, thrusting the world into the FIFTH SHINOBI WAR.
