Reminisce {Hinata}

Neji looked up at her, surprised.

"A burden?" Neji asked her. "Why would you think that?"

Hinata has her eyes squeezed shut. Her pleasant smile was gone.

"What are we doing?" He said, closing his eyes. He let loose a slight chuckle. "I see I'm not the only one who was suffering."

"Uh?..." Hinata munbled then looked at her feeth "why?well...he really n-never cared about me...I-i mean....he gave me away to Kurenai without even caring about me"Hinata said then added "...Even when it was the best he...he....thinks i am a disgrace...maybe he hates me..." Hinata said,covering her face with both hands.
her straight hair covering a little her face,in Hinata´s back the yin yang symbol in her jacket, in the back part could be visible.

Hinata covered her face with her hands. Neji watched and frowned, lowering his eyes.

I wish there was something I could say... Neji thought as he watched her.

Neji didn't know what to do. She looked so... vulnerable. He was worried that whatever he said might hurt her further. An impulse rooted in his mind. Without thinking, he followed it. Neji's arms found their way around her, and he hugged her tightly.

Hinata felt the warm embrace as neji hugged her.
She opened her eyes to look at him to the face,eye to eye.
"T-Thank you..."Hinaat said,then smiled,a very faint buit genuine image,and she hugged him back.
"You are only one i can count on" She said,thinking about shino and kiba,who WOULD hyelp her if she would tell them what she felt,which,she didn´t do.she didn´t wanted to tell them.
"I wish he was still here..." Hinata said,thinking about that someone,Neji would sooner or later figure out whot hat one was.

"Because....I love you!" She remenbered,a tear forming in the corner of her eye.

Neji wasn't cold any longer.

He met her gaze, feeling - in fact - quite warm. Even he felt better now.

"Oh..." Neji sighed, realization settling over him. Naruto. Hinata had always had a crush on Naruto, he knew that. And now that he was gone... Neji could say whatever he wanted, but he knew that there were no words to cure a broken heart...

"I'm still here for you," Neji whispered to her. "Always."

"Not always...everybody dies...sooner or later....everybody....everyone....birds..."she said looking at the birds in the big tree,still hugging Neji "...Fish....and..." She looked at Neji "...Humans...." She dug her head in his chest,one tear forming in the corner of her eye,her heart pounding slowly,her straigh hair was still as straight as always,shining with the sun.
"Neji..."She said looking at him "Thanks...you are the best cousin i would ever want to have..in fact,i wouldn´t have choosen someone as good as you,and you know...y-you will always reside here in my heart...." she said,looking at the sky "with Naruto-kun"
she then kissed Neji in his cheek,then hugged him tightly.
"I love you brother." she said,smiling,and cleaning her tears.she has always called him brother.

Neji looked down, eyebrows raised in surprise. Her head was snuggled comfortably into the crease in his robe. A chilling breeze chased leaves from the trees and carried them into the air. It brushed over his bare arms and sent his hair back over his shoulders, but he felt strangely warm. She kissed his cheek gently, and Neji smiled as she lay her head back down.

Whatever it was, Neji thought, looking up at the sky, that brought us both here... I am glad for it. I am glad that I could be here to help her... to make her feel better, to make her smile again.

Neji looked back down at her and stroked her hair, and he realized that there was nothing that he wanted more. Hinata made him feel like he had a family again. She was his family, he just hadn't realized it before.

"I wish I knew then what I do now," he whispered, to nobody in particular. His arms found their way around her, and he brought her in close. He felt safe, with her in his arms. He felt all of his fears and all of his guilt trail away with the wind. "Thank you, Hinata."
