Neji's eyes widened as she reached for him. Her arms trembled from exhaustion. He watched as she placed her hands on his back. Neji felt the immediate flow of chakra begin; it was weak and watered-down, so to speak. He looked at her, surprised. She was healing him.
Neji reached behind him and held her hands. He met her gaze with a kind, amused smile.
"Hinata-sama," he said thankfully. "You need to start thinking of yourself sometimes."
Neji propped her up - she looked too exhausted to do it herself - and leaned her against his shoulder. He hugged her gently.

((Sorry, not sure how much longer I can continue this thread. The site is pretty much dead and I found a new one... sorry!))
Neji stared at her. He couldn't reply. Of course, the logical response was no... emotions held no physical, tangible, or visible ties to the mortal world. So then... what were they? One could not see them. One could not taste nor touch nor smell them, could not rub them in one's own fingers and sense the sweet texture. These would be the kind of things that Neji would dismiss as fiction, useless functions fabricated by the superfluous human mind.
"Hinata-sama..." Neji whispered, holding her close. If emotions couldn't be felt or seen, then what made them so powerful?
What willed people to do battle over them? To go to war over them? To protect each other out of fear, of spite, of love?
I'm changing, too, Neji thought as he stroked Hinata's hair. He only wanted her to feel better. Hinata has always helped me to see the best of myself... I hope that i can do the same for her.
"Hinata, I don't need my Byakugan to see that," he told her. "Thank you, so much, for everything."
