Yet again, Gaara was perched atop a roof, overlooking Sunagakure. Except this time he wasn't sitting casually on the ledge. This time, he stood aback stiff, stern, and arms crossed. His eyebrows were furrowed a bit, giving the impression that the Kazekage was concerned or upset. But in truth, he wasn't. Gaara was merely concentrating on how Temari had talked to him before the meeting. They were standing outside, on the same roof that Gaara was located now. Temari still looked a bit different to Gaara. By then, he realized it wasn't her clothes, but something else. Maybe it was her personality. She seemed a bit more carefree and optimistic. It seemed that only Gaara had noticed this, and of course, being him, Gaara wouldn't say anything. The younger sibling did his best to pinpoint the cause in Temari's slight change in attitude.
It's probably just my imagination. Gaara pondered, wondering if he had finally reached the conclusion of his uneasiness. Or... Maybe I think Temari's in a better mood, but it's actually me? Why would I suddenly be... happier? Nothing happened, at least as far as I know... Gaara sighed and closed his eyes as he lowered his head. He was distracting himself, making believe things just to have some kind of problem. He had some kind of problem going on in his life at any time. Gaara was probably only just trying to give himself a problem to deal with, so thing's wouldn't seem so foreign. Suna was doing well, wonderful, in fact. The meeting that had just ended was more like some kind of congratulatory hearing, not the problem that Gaara expected the meeting to bring. There was, of course, the Akatsuki and Orochimaru, but they had been quiet in terms of Suna lately. Quite frankly, the young Kazekage was uneasy.
Gaara opened his eyes and looked up, his arms still crossed. His light green eyes caught the last bit of the sunset, whose glow diminished upon Suna, where a shadow would soon be cast. Gaara squinted slightly, absorbing the symbolism in this sunset. Nothing gold can stay, just as this uneasy peace. Nothing lasts forever, such as an innocent child, or the moment where a sun sets. Good things never last, but bad things do. If one thing goes wrong, it somehow scars the world or burns a memory in your head. Why is it like that? Now, Gaara had something else to ponder. But Gaara's stomach thought otherwise as a low grumble erupted from it. The young Kazekage looked rather annoyed, but turned on his heel, in spite of his wandering mind. He approached the edge of the building, but before he could leap down and have dinner, soft footsteps could be heard behind him. Gaara stood straight, but didn't turn around.

Gaara turned around and met the gaze of a young man. He looked like a seasoned shinobi, who had seen a number of his own wins and losses. Gaara would have expected Baki, one of his siblings, or even a council member to show up. But a ninja from the Village Hidden in the Mist wasn't exactly what Gaara had in mind. He seemed polite enough, with how he addressed Gaara. "Thank you." Gaara said simply. He took the scroll from Kusan's hand, but didn't put it away. Gaara didn't have the slightest clue what the subject of the scroll would be, but he prayed that it wasn't another bandit or rogue ninja problem. There had been so many of those lately. Well, if the Akatsuki and Orochimaru were quiet, then something had to take their place, right?
Gaara nodded at the ninja, who looked a bit older than himself. "Yes, I do know how to open it. It's a security measure to make sure no rogue shinobi or spy gets their hands on it." Gaara thought it was quite an effective method, and was thankful for the cleverness of whoever had thought of such an idea. Gaara watched as Kusan layed down his sibling's things. The young Kazekage nearly sighed in disbelief. Didn't they just recently get new equipment? And were they so lazy as to have it delivered? It wasn't like the number of missions were high or anything. Maybe they were slacking off because there seemed to be no threat as of now. "You have done enough." Gaara told Kusan after prying his gaze from the items on the ground. "How is the Hidden Mist Village?" Gaara asked. They'd been a bit quiet with Suna lately, and Gaara was curious as to how they were doing.

A new section, huh? Gaara thought. That sounded interesting. Their academy hadn't undergone any major changes, mostly because it was fine the way it was. Maybe Gaara should issue it to be renovated or something. He was sure that would make the students more content. Gaara, himself, never went to the academy as a child. His father trained Gaara since he was very young, while Yashamaru had taken the role as caretaker.
When Gaara heard the second half of what Kusan had inquired, a look of bewilderment crossed his face. Why would there be a rumor that Suna were to attack the Mist Village? That was just... inconcievable. Gaara did his best not to sound offended but failed miserably. "And why would someone suggest Suna formed an alliance with the Akatsuki?" Suna hadn't done anything massivly wrong. Only little things, like shinobi delivering the wrong scroll or crossing territory. But all of the villages were allies, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Gaara averted his gaze slightly. "You shouldn't trust a rogue shinobi." Gaara told Kusan. The shinobi who had probably told Kusan that wanted to spread a rumor and cause uneasiness and possibly war between the nations. Gaara was just thankful Kusan asked him first, it might've been a mess if he informed the Mizukage first. Gaara would've had to do a lot of explaining then, and it wouldn't have been pretty.
Disregarding Kusan's last statement, Gaara returned his gaze to him and asked, "Is this your first time in Suna?"

Gaara crossed his arms as his eyebrows screwed in confusion. What was with this Kusan? He seemed a edgy about wars and the such. Sure, Gaara was worried more than anyone else but that was because he was the Kazekage. Mere shinobi should not be distracting themselves from an occurance that was unlikely to happen. This puzzled Gaara as he wondered if any of the shinobi in Suna were having the same thoughts. Gaara hoped they didn't, and that they had faith in their Kazekage and the decisions he made to protect and preserve the village.
"How would staying away from any of the villages prevent war? We're at peace." Gaara doubted any of the village's were hostile enough to cause a war just because a foreign shinobi happened to stop by in there area. Besides, people took vacations all the time in different villages, and everyone accepted that. Maybe Kusan was just the type to worry too much, and to be a little paranoid. Gaara remembered that when he was younger, he felt the exact same way when people attempted to assasinate him. He found a solution for it, but it wasn't the right one. Gaara was thankful each and every day that he escaped the darkness and come to love Suna. Gaara felt the sun on his back as he awaited Kusan's reply.
